As you may have seen from TCIA’s recent alert, OSHA put tree care employers on notice that conventional body/waist belts and lanyards used for fall arrest in aerial/compact lifts would no longer be acceptable as of January 17, 2017. What this means for you is that if you are still providing body/waist belts and lanyards for your aerial lift/compact lift operators, you must switch to an OSHA-compliant system (full body harness and energy absorbing lanyard or a travel restraint system) by January 17, 2017.
